The adoption of Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) is a huge concern for organisations in both the public and private sectors. As the role of cryptography has risen in the past decade its tentacles have far reaching impact with respect to data security and identity and access management.
The journey to PQC migration starts today. There is no benefit in waiting until quantum computers become available to start considering how to migrate to a more secure landscape.
PQC aims to deliver a new era of algorithms that assist in both encryption and key generation and distribution. Concepts such as Shor’s Algorithm have shown that quantum computers will reduce the efficacy of today’s asymmetric cryptographic algorithms such as the popular RSA. Why so? Well RSA is essentially based on a “hard computational” problem that can become a lot easier to solve with quantum computing. To that end protocols that use RSA for things like key distribution and signatures will become vulnerable to exploitation.
The panel will aim to shed light on this concern, as well as how organisations can start to understand more about the future crypto landscape, get to grips with knowing more about existing crypto usage as well as starting to consider how to migrate to the new schemes via structured risk assessment and migration planning.
